The Board of El Paso County Commissioners requested on Tuesday a special report on the rebuilding efforts in Black Forest in response to a series of Gazette articles that Commissioners Amy Lathen and Darryl Glenn have called "an injustice" to and "a complete misrepresentation" of the county's work to aid rebuilding. Since late July, The Gazette has run articles on the commissioners' treatment of fire codes following the Black Forest fire, which destroyed 488 homes and killed two people in 2013 and is the state's most destructive wildfire.
