A resolution that opposes refugees moving into El Paso County unless the U.S. government deems them not to be a threat won unanimous county commission approval Thursday morning. Commissioner Darryl Glenn sponsored the resolution, saying, "We have a responsibility to make sure every citizen who comes here is not a threat to this community." The commissioners acknowledged that they have no control over where refugees move. But the resolution "respectfully requests that the Colorado State Refugee Coordinator notify El Paso County immediately" if refugees will resettle in the county and coordinate to "mitigate potential impacts" on county finances and services.
