Think of Monument Creek as a giant feather. The main creek, it's shaft, splits northern El Paso County in half and runs the length of Interstate 25. Its tributary creeks, like a feather's barbs, fan out to the east and west. All of it funnels to one point - America the Beautiful Park, where it joins with Fountain Creek. Monument Creek is the natural gathering point for all water that falls on El Paso County. But in recent years, that has meant that the creek bears the debris of two burns scars - one to the west and one to the east - water from major flooding and runoff from development.
